Barents Parka

Robust, waterproof parka with synthetic padding suitable for changeable winter weather. Snug-fitting hood with detachable synthetic fur edging.

      * Required Fields

      Long, hardwearing winter parka for changeable winters when temperatures fluctuate between above freezing with sleet to below freezing with snow. Durable Supreme Microloft padding provides warmth, but Barents Parka has less padding than our warmest winter jackets so it is functional even when the temperature is around zero. The outer fabric is G-1000 original with reinforcements in G-1000 HeavyDuty and a Hydratic membrane that keeps water out. The generous hood has detachable synthetic fur edging for extra protection against falling snow. Many pockets provide practical storage, such as the vertical chest pockets for maps, telephones or bus passes, and the bellow pockets lower down that have room for both gloves and frozen hands. There is also a hidden napoleon pocket and two inside pockets. Drawcord at the hem and long two-way zipper with protective flap and press buttons. Sleeve cuffs can be adjusted with Velcro. Its classic cut and robust materials make Barents Parka suitable for both every day use and outdoor life – without having to worry about getting wet.

      1. A+ Parka
        Product rating
        Just about to polish off my third winter with this glorious parka and I must say it handles the cold days with ease. I wear just a base layer under this parka in -10 to -30 and tend to pop the keb hoodie underneath on the frigid sub -30 days, but am usually toasty. The wax definitely helps keep the wind and water out and fyi - try to remember to remove the fur trim prior to hanging out by the fire unless you want the faux fur smelling for weeks afterwards. Great parka, hoping it'll continue to excel for another 3 years.
      2. In love with Fjallraven G-1000
        Product rating
        Since I discover Fjallraven I did bought a lot of their stuff and one I am the most pleased with is the Barents Parka. I was looking for a Full G-1000 Fabric with Synthetic and fairly thick insulation, and it is Hydratic Waterproof ! The Barents was what I was looking for as a Versatile Broad Spectrum Uses Winter Garnment :) I am 5 an 8 (172cm) and thin (135 Lbs, 62Kg) and Small Sizing fit perfect with enough room for layering to a point. One key Feature for me is having my neck covered in almost every winter situation and was glad to see I can Zip-up the jacket, hood-down, have and feel the Hood Collar + Faux Fur Ruff clasping comfortably around my Neck :)
      3. Great Parka, not so great service
        Product rating
        First of all - The Parka is great, very warm, durable, very versatile - in short: as great as most Fjallraven products. So far I have only had one little issue with the Parka and that's where the problems started. My ski pants have a Velcro belt that touched the inner lining of my Barents for a few minutes while I was snowboarding. This was enough to damage the lining and open up a seam. At that time the Jacket was only a month old, so first thing I did was contacting Fjallraven to ask for repair of the damage under their lifetime warranty, because in my eyes a bit of Velcro should not rip apart the lining.

        Unfortunately their warranty department had a different opinion on that. As I still though this should not have happened I went into a Fjallraven store and asked the staff what they think about it. Unsurprisingly they told me Velcro should not do that kind of damage and the warranty department should definitely take care of my problem.
        Therefore I contacted them again, several weeks ago - no answer, even though they normally got back to me within no time. Tried it again, maybe there was a problem with the e-mail - no answer, although I sent e-mails to different addresses.

        So to make a long story short: The product is great and so is the main company in Sweden. The Canadian stores are awesome as well, just the management cannot keep up with their employees. So do not let Velcro come to close to the lining and try to avoid their warranty department.

        I hope they change their minds and help me out. If not - the product is great, so definitely recommendable. If they use more durable fabric on the inside in future, in my opinion the Barents is one of the best parkas you can buy.
