Greenland No. 1 Down Jacket

Timeless down jacket in G-1000 Eco with contrasting colours and leather details. Fixed hood, chest and hand pockets and an inside pocket.

      * Required Fields

A down version of Fjällräven’s most timeless jacket with contrasting colours over the shoulders and sleeves and leather details.
Greenland No. 1 Down Jacket is based on the original Greenland Jacket, and has the same cut as the first one Fjällräven’s founder Åke Nordin made from a piece of durable tent fabric at home in Örnsköldsvik in 1968. This padded jacket has 700 cuin of high-quality down and is suitable for the colder months of the year. The outer fabric is hardwearing, wind and water resistant G-1000 Eco, made from recycled polyester and organic cotton, and the lining is light, pliant Pertex® Quantum-polyamide.
The jacket has a fixed hood and zipper with buttoned flap at the front. Smaller items can be stowed in the two chest pockets with flaps and the jacket also has two hand pockets with buttons on the sides, which are good for warming hands in on cold days. There is also a zippered inside pocket. Edging in natural-toned leather around the hood and sleeve cuffs. The lower hem and sleeve cuffs can be adjusted with a button.
The jacket can be impregnated with Greenland Wax for extra protection against wind and rain.

I had just reviewed this jacket a few months ago (scroll down in the reviews) but thought I'd add an update because now i've had a chance to wear it in the cold.
This past week its been -20c feeling like -30c. I went for a walk last night and was surprisingly warm. Keep in mind though its all about the layering, I wore my wool base layer, then a thick fleece midlayer. Without this layering i would have froze. My only complaint with this is that because the jacket is so fitting, its hard to add extra layers and have the movability. If you want this for cold winters, I'd suggest looking into the Parka style of this jacket. If you want it for fall and spring, and just running quick errands in the winter, it does the job great.
I am also considering making an altercation to the armpit area so my chest is less restricted.

I also had a chance to take it out hiking/camping worked good but sparks somehow managed to attack the inside down, now i have holes :(

I give it a 4/5 star rating because I had to get it fixed all ready. The stitching at the cuff was unraveling, and I didn't pay this price to have that happen! However, they did fix it for free, as expected

      4. I've found it, at last.

I just bought my jacket a few days ago.
After weeks of researching I finally found the Greenland No. 1 Down Jacket.

I wanted warmth without the bulk of a Parka, I wanted durability without the weight of a canvas work coat.
This fit the bill, light, very comfy, G100 material on the outside makes me not afraid to go for a walk through the bush or to do a quick job on the construction site.

I'm very happy with my purchase, the simplicity and the Scandinavian design makes this a good looking, practical coat.
      5. My perfect fit. ... almost

I finally found the jacket I've been looking for!
I didn't want any nylon, polyester, easy to rip, tear, mark, ect, coat.
The Greenland No.1 Down jacket is what I needed. Down filled on the inside, more tough, canvas material on the outside. Perfect for going up to the cabin, being able to carry a load of wood in, and not being afraid I will rip or mark it up like so many past jackets I've had.
Yet still stylish enough ( thanks to the simplicity of it I believe) to wear it to when go out into the city.

I'm currently studying but I'm an outdoorsman, country guy, who wanted a jacket that could do both without being an oversized parka. This was it!

Pros, (for me) durability with the G1000 material and wax, very simple and clean... very swedish, very comfy on the inside, the hood is amazing, the button cuffs even better (with the leather lining it doesn't irritate the skin)

Cons, I only have to blame myself for being a stout, canadian guy. This was obviously designed for the Scandinavians in mind, long arms long shoulders, but narrow chest.
Thats really my only complaint, I own a medium, I would have went down to a small but it was to restricting in my chest area.

I've only recently bought it but am excited to put it to the test.
They tell you to size down, which I'd agree with, but I know this isn't a parka, and being in Canadian winters, I wanted to be able to wear a couple layers underneath.

Looking forward to getting rid of my 4 other coats for all the seasons and sticking to this one!
      6. Great Jacket - worth the price
        Product rating
I'm a student thus was hesitant to purchase such an expensive jacket, but its worth every penny. I really like the leather trim on the cuffs and hood, as they were the first worn out areas on my previous jacket. The jacket is also surprisingly light which is a great bonus. The hood has a great shape/form and stays in place even with strong front wind. Thank you Fjallraven for making a great winter jacket!
      7. Zippers
        Product rating
Love my new jacket, the only feature would of loved is zippered outside pockets. However there are snaps which seem to keep everything in my pockets pretty secure...
      8. My new GO-TO Jacket
        Product rating
My new favorite jacket! It's warm + comfortable + for all cold occasion with spacious pockets and attention to detail! Strongly recommend.
